Who Are Num Nums Barry?
Num Nums #Barry is run by husband, and wife team Graeme and Nicola Lawrence. They are both from South Wales and attended local colleges to gain their qualifications. Since leaving college they have acquired extensive experience in Michelin star hotels and restaurants.
Nicola began her career working in London at Le Gavroche under Michele Roux Jr, before returning to Wales to work for rewnoned Stephen Terry at The Hardwick. Graeme moved to Bray where he worked at The Hinds Head for Heston Blumenthal and The Riverside Brasserie, he also returned to Wales to work for Stephen Terry at The Hardwick and this is where they met in 2010.
They left The Hardwick to work and travel in Australia, both working in several restaurants in Sydney before returning to live in Chippenham. Nicola then worked for Welsh Chef Richard Davies at Manor House in Castle Combe, and Graeme for Martin Burge, Head Chef of Whatley Manor.
Fast forward nine years and after several house moves, the addition of two children and working in numerous Michelin starred restaurants and tearooms, they are now finally starting their own business. Alongside Nicola studying her PgCE to pass on her knowledge gained within the industry.
So, why did they call themselves Num Nums?
So, why did they call themselves Num Nums?
Num Nums #Barry is a family business with their two children Rosemary and Charlie loving to learn and help. When Charlie discovered sweet treats he called them Num Nums and so the name has a specific and special meaning within the family. What better name to call their business?
